BENEFITING: City Harvest, Inc.
ORGANIZER: City Harvest, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
I’m proud to support City Harvest when I run the New York City Marathon this year.
Not only does City Harvest bring healthy, fresh food to those who need it, but it helps reduce New York’s contribution to global climate change. When food is sent to landfills, it decomposes and produces methane, an extremely powerful greenhouse gas. And when that food was still fresh when it was thrown away, it is even more tragic. So that’s why I’m supporting City Harvest - to help rescue tons of fresh, healthy, and delicious food, which will go to benefit hungry and homeless New Yorkers.
Please join me in supporting this outstanding organization.

Founded in 1982 as the world’s first food rescue organization, City Harvest is dedicated to helping feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers facing hunger. City Harvest will collect 55 million pounds of excess food from restaurants, grocers, bakeries, manufacturers, and farms, and deliver it free of charge to 500 community food programs across the city this year. In addition to helping meet the immediate need for food, City Harvest takes a long-term approach to fighting hunger by partnering with residents, local organizations and businesses through Healthy Neighborhoods programs which increase the availability of affordable fruits and vegetables in low-income communities and provide the nutrition education and resources to maintain a wholesome, food-secure diet.
