We are a global community of dedicated volunteers, creating opportunities for all ages to experience the excitement and enrichment of cultural diversity through our educational programs. We are founded on our belief that peace is possible through friendship - and that the real difference can be made by starting with children.
CISV provides a range of unique, educational group activities, which develop cross-cultural understanding in children, youth and adults from around the world. By encouraging respect for cultural differences and the development of self-awareness, CISV empowers each participant to incorporate these values into their lives as they become global citizens and strive for a more peaceful world.
In 2020, we will host our Step-Up camp for three weeks, 50 participants, at our new site partnering with Seedrioru. We hope recalling CISV memories and how your family’s world views were expanded may strike a chord. Participation in international programs is one part of CISV’s success in developing active global citizens.
Hosting a Step-Up is Expensive
It will cost our chapter more than $35,000 to host this program, even with the in-kind donations we receive from our wonderful Waterloo Region community. CISV participation has a demonstrably positive impact on participants’ personal development. Participation in CISV programs leads to strengthened communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Moreover, as a result of becoming appreciative of other cultures, participants typically become more aware of their own culture. Here are some ideas of how you can accept the challenge:
$25 Supplies (first aid kit or craft box or sports equipment, etc.)
$75 BBQ Lunch
$100 Printed Materials
$150 National Night Dinner (x12 delegations)
$350 Lifeguards for Swimming (lifeguards for 3 swim sessions)
$500 Bus Rental or Airport Pick-up/Drop off (x2 excursions)
$2000 Camp excursion
$2500 Groceries for a Week!
** all values are approximate, donations will go where they are needed most
Our Step-Up fundraising goal is $10,000 so we have to ask -
Can we count on you to contribute?
