EVENT DATE: MAY 25, 2014
AngelRide is one of New England’s premier charity bicycle rides; providing an experience unlike any other. From the athletic challenge of the 52-mile ride, to the camaraderie of the riders and volunteers, to the direct impact on the lives of children with serious illnesses, it’s easy to see why AngelRide has become a Memorial Day weekend tradition for so many.
For our family, this tradition started 3 years ago when my Godson Joe rode. At that time, our family was all too familiar with the turmoil and grief that are a package deal with a life-changing diagnosis. It can make joy and happiness feel so unattainable. That's why Angel Ride is so close to our hearts. It’s a way to get out of your own head and have fun in an experience bigger than yourself. Last year, Uncle Dale, Aunt Peg, and I signed up and with the support of our friends and family we were part of an effort to raise $750,000. 100% of fundraising supports The Hole in the Wall Gang's Hospital Outreach Program: bringing Camp to children and families unable to leave the hospital. But what does that mean? Last year that meant new jobs throughout New England and NY. The people that filled those jobs went to various hospitals throughout the region to visit children with various serious illnesses. Camp showed up for those kids and their families and provided them an oasis from treatment, a moment to be just a regular kid, and create a lasting memory.
