We Did It!
March 18, 2018
I am grateful, honored, excited, and very humbled to be 1 of 40 runners selected to run across Haiti in 2018. I never in my life would have thought that I would be a part of an organization dedicated in providing better lives for a country and its people. I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to migrate to the United States from a third world country to pursue the American Dream. Now, it's my turn to give back by fundraising and doing a little running. Work's mission is to accompany families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs. Work starts by getting to know the families and to learn about their needs. Often times it begins with addressing health concerns, as illness can stand in the way of all other goals. Next, we ensure all school-aged children have access to an education and address basic needs such as debt and housing with their parents. Once family members are work-ready, they participate in our job preparation program and are trained and placed into dignified work. Our families receive follow up services such as professional development and household budgeting workshops while we maintain our commitment to accompany them until they no longer need us. With your support we can continue to provide better lives for the communities of Haiti. Thank you for time and support.
