EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Children of Bellevue (CoB) is a leading non-profit organization that is devoted to providing companionship, support, and smiles to the pediatric patients of New York City’s Bellevue Hospital. CoB implements special programs that improve the health, well-being, and development of the more than 25,000 children and teens who come to Bellevue Hospital each year.
These programs include:
- The Francis L. Loeb Child Protection and Development Center;
- The Video Interaction Project, a unique and innovative approach to lessening disparities through guided parent-child interactions during pediatric visits that foster optimal cognitive, linguistic, and social development;
- Child Life and Development; and
- Reach Out and Read, which gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together.
I've had the privilege to work at Bellevue as a general pediatrician for the past five years, and have seen these wonderful programs in action. I've also deeply enjoyed collaborating in research and clinical care projects with faculty and staff that work to bring so much joy to children who otherwise might not get the needed support for their development.
I am proud to support CoB by running the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon!
