BENEFITING: CHARLES TILLMAN CORNERSTONE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Mar 31, 2016
Do you want to Charles "Peanut" Tillman to visit YOUR school?
What if he brings 20 signed copies of his book, The Middle School Rules of Charles "Peanut" Tillman, and school supplies, and he spends the WHOLE day at YOUR school?
Now is your chance to make this dream a reality!
Anyone – a teacher, parent, grandparent, neighbor – can nominate a school. Then rally your community to raise money for the Cornerstone Foundation on behalf of that school. Any school in the United States qualifies.
The competition ends March 31, 2016, then a date for Charles' visit will be determined.
Just for signing up and fundraising, each school will get 2 copies of The Middle School Rules.
Charles loves speaking to students and sharing his passion for education and inspiration. Offered just one college scholarship, Charles played 12 years for the Chicago Bears, earning the distinction as the greatest cornerback in team history. This past season, Charles helped the Carolina Panthers reach Super Bowl 50!
But his greatest football honor was winning the 2013 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, which recognizes a player for "his excellence on and off the field."
He won that award because he's a two-time Pro Bowl selection, and he greatly helped others through the Cornerstone Foundation. The money raised during the School Challenge will benefit two of the Cornerstone Foundation's programs, Tiana Funds and Charles' Locker.
Charles' Locker: The lockers enrich the lives of chronically and critically ill children by providing them and their families with access to iPads, notebook computers, DVD players, portable Play Station game systems, and other electronic handheld games, to pass the time during recovery and treatment. The lockers are in five hospitals in and around Chicago, as well at Fort Hood, where Charles’ father was stationed while serving in the Army. The five lockers are estimated to impact the lives of more than 370,000 ill children and their families annually.
Tiana Funds: The Tiana Fund program provides assistance to economically at-risk persons or families in-need that will strengthen their ability to care for themselves, enhance their stability and security, and improve their quality of life or their ability to contribute to the community. Applications are available at hospitals in Chicago and Charlotte or from pre-approved community organizations.
We receive 5-10 applications for aid every week.
Please know the money raised directly impacts the lives of families in the hospitals.
