I'm happy to announce that this year I'll be taking part in a full-length triathlon (3.8 km of swimming + 180 km of cycling + 42.2 km of running) - the Ironman Copenhagen on 18 August.
I've set myself the challenge of covering the distance in under 10 hours. I don't want this to be "just another go". Achieving it will take a lot of training, a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication and giving up certain things which a lot of people can't even afford. As such, I've decided to take on extra responsibilities J.
My mission in entering this competition is to drum up support for the MaccaNow Foundation. It was established in memory of Chris McCormack's mother, who died of breast cancer in 1999. Our initial goal is to raise $2,735,373 to help the families of those who are undergoing breast cancer treatment so as to lessen the amount they have to pay themselves and to improve their quality of life.
We came up with this figure based on the number of days that Chris's mother was alive (19,455) multiplied by the ironman distance in miles (140.6) i.e. 2,735,373. Please help us achieve this goal by donating anything you can today.
I know it won't be easy for me to do what I'm planning to - I'll need all the support I can get from my family, my friends and all of you!
