WHAT IS THE LESS CANCER CHALLENGE 300?
The Less Cancer Challenge 300 is an event for everyone everywhere to move 300 miles, steps, or reps during the month of July. It’s a ‘Move 300-athon’ to raise support and awareness for Lesscancer.org.
You choose the activity (or combination) and location that works for you. Whether you’re riding a bike 300 miles like "Team Girls on Fire"; walking 300 minutes (that’s just 10 minutes a day with 1 day off); or doing 300 sit-ups, you have 31 days to complete your 300 as an individual or team. Be creative… Make it fun… Recruit your friends… The important thing is that you get moving for Lesscancer.org (AKA Next Generation Choices Foundation).
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Design Your Challenge and Build a Team:
Start your own fundraising team through the Less Cancer/Crowdrise webpage and complete your 300 miles, minutes, meters, steps, reps, or any combination during the month of July 2013.
Join an Existing Team to be part of the 300-athon you will be moving in July.
You can do the entire 300 as an individual or log your 300 collectively with a friend or many friends and grow your own team.
Treadmills and stationary bikes/trainers are included in the challenge. You choose what unit of measure works for you—miles, minutes, meters, etc…

Why 300 Miles? Why Mackinac Island?
It all started during the Move Detroit for Less Cancer event at Bayview Yacht Club, in Detroit Michigan. Friends, Less Cancer Advocates, and landlubbers Suzi Tobias and Martha Fruehauf decided it would be an exciting challenge to see if they could ride their bicycles from Port Huron to Mackinac as fast as the sailboats in the legendary BYC Port Huron to Mackinac sailboat race.
Inspired by the mission of the Move Detroit for Less Cancer concept; the enthusiasm of Less Cancer Founder, Bill Couzens; and the Alicia Keys song “Girl on Fire,” Suzi and Martha charted a 300-mile Onshore Course to Mackinac Island and formed Team Girls on Fire to raise awareness and support for Less Cancer.
ABOUT LESS CANCER:
Lesscancer.org, a campaign of Next Generation Choices Foundation, is committed to raising awareness for reducing incidences of cancer through education, advocacy and policy.
The Less Cancer Approach:
Less Cancer has been on the cutting edge as "non-profit" pioneers on the web and social media; we are generating attention and creating streams of communication to over 100,000 regular followers in over 30 countries.
The Second and developing channel for communicating the Less Cancer mission and engaging programming has been "offline" or "place based" on the ground and in communities that can address specific needs to include health care systems, community groups, health-affected constituencies, schools, universities and government and non-government organizations.
Less Cancer’s ultimate goal is to raise awareness of prevention and reduce incidences of diagnosed cancer in all people.
