We will deliver food, mental health supports, and educational resources each week to homeless families. We will partner with existing local food pantries, urban farms, Boston Public Schools, and major stores to provide nutritional food options for families in need. Each week, we will deliver:
• Healthy food with cold and hot recipes for family meal preparation
• Books with “teaching” activities and school supplies
• Mental health one-page suggestions for parents and children with a list of resources including educational webinars that parents and children can access from C4C, Scholastic and our collaborators along with virtual story book readings of the books provided from local book authors
Additionally, each week families will receive an educational packet with opportunities for hands-on learning. This will supplement the benefits of remote learning and the resources available to the families through our webinars. Families’ needs will be assessed, and we will monitor program effectiveness. Comcast will provide 2 months of free internet service, and we will work with the Boston Public Schools to ensure access to Chrome Books. If there are limited supplies, we will move to supply a small number of ChromeBooks.
