Caitie was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis right before her 4th birthday (which is the picture of her with Tippie-Toes the hermit crab at Seattle Children's Hospital). She is now over 10 years old and continues to take medication every day.
She had to do IVIG + solumedrol infusions for 4 years and has been off of steroids for 5 months. She has been so happy to be able to stop some of her medications BUT still takes 7 medications each day (and 8 on Thursdays). She and the rest of our family look forward to a day with no medication and no diagnosis for her. A CURE is needed.
She is looking forward to this walk event to not only raise some money for the Cure JM Foundation BUT mostly to meet some other kids with this condition. She doesn't know anyone else with JDM!
