Join the Burke Medical Research Institute’s NYC Marathon Team in fundraising for Robot Plus in collaboration with Train the Brain. The Robot Plus program is designed to research the optimal pairing of state-of-the-art robotic therapy with complementary interventions to optimize stroke recovery. Robot assisted therapy has been proven to lead to significant improvements in motor function for individuals who have a neurological condition. We plan to study the impact of dietary modification, medications, non-invasive brain stimulation and other novel therapies in conjunction with robotics to enhance functional recovery. Our plan is to study how this combination therapy works on a cellular and clinical level. Robot Plus creates a synergy between technology and promising new therapies to promote neurological recovery. PROJECT BACKGROUND In 2013, the Restorative Neurology Clinic at Burke Medical Research Institute (BMRI) established a self-pay clinic to offer breakthrough cutting-edge robotic neurorehabilitation therapies to individuals recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions. The clinic was developed based on many years of clinical research conducted at BMRI that investigated using exoskeletal robotics, pioneered by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to assist in neurorehabilitation. In 2015, the Restorative Neurology Clinic at Burke Medical Research Institute (BMRI) was proud to announce the expansion of the Lower Limb Robotics Program to offer cutting-edge robotic therapy essential for revitalizing lower body movement and empowering survivors to learn to walk again. This significant expansion was made possible thanks to multiple successful fund-raising efforts by TRAIN THE BRAIN, which raised over $600,000!
