Building Bridges and Community in San Juan del Sur
Organized by: Esme Stefani
EVENT DATE Dec 26, 2015
I am very excited to spend a week in Nicaragua as a volunteer working with other kids, learning about wildlife restoration, permaculture and how to protect their natural environment. I am most excited about working with other kids, where we can share our experiences, differences and languages. From what I've learned, these kids don’t have the opportunity to travel - so I hope the time we spend together will also offer them a little window into my life as 13 year old Cape Cod girl.
Our group is partnering with Paso Pacifico who's mission is to restore and conserve the natural ecosystems of Central America’s Pacific slope by collaborating with local organizations and communities. Paso Pacifico is a registered non-profit and partner of the Clinton Global Initiative so your donation is 100% tax deductible.
San Juan del Sur is a rural fishing village in Nicaragua, where the median income is $1650 a year. Over 55% of the employed population works in the service sector, thus the tourism industry brings a lot of jobs and income to this country. Incidentally, Nicaragua qualified as one of the HIC (Highly Impoverished Countries) and was given debt relief from the World Monetary Fund.
This is my first time performing a service volunteer trip and I'm so grateful that you would consider supporting me and this cause! Think of it as a great tax deductible Christmas present!
Our group would not be able to help all these amazing children without your financial support. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
