BENEFITING: 3-11 YOUTH HOUSING
With the addition of a sixth youth house this November, 3:11 Youth Housing (Three:Eleven)will offer long-term supportive housing to 19 young adults who are experiencing homeless in Kent County in 2017. Additionally, the organization now operates out of its new office space, located at 722 Eastern Ave. S.E. in Grand Rapids, MI. Since 2012, 3:11 Youth Housing has provided safe and affordable housing to youth who are experiencing homelessness in Grand Rapids. Through a housing-first approach combined with positive youth development practices, 3:11 Youth Housing has grown from housing 4 youth to 19 youth in their 6 properties throughout Grand Rapids. 3:11 Youth Housing believes that access to housing should not come with preconditions, instead that it is a basic need for all people, and, once satisfied, helps propel youth towards their best future. Through authentic relationship building and connections to community resources, youth are empowered to make their own choices and set goals to move their lives forward. 3:11 Youth Housing provides the support, through mentors and the community, to walk alongside young people through the highs and lows of their lives. A recent graduate of 3:11 explains “3:11 gave me time to get back on my feet. I was able to get a job, some income, and eventually my own place. Also, it really gave me a family.” 3:11 Youth Housing is excited to offer this opportunity to even more young people this year.
