It is a rare opportunity when one of your dreams crosses paths with your life’s passion, but the opportunity has come my way. In my case, my dream of running the Boston Marathon has coincided with my passion for helping kids. I have been given the chance to get a bib number in the Boston Marathon on April 16, 2012 by fundraising for the Boston Chapter of buildOn, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education. To that end, I am asking for your help in reaching my $2,000 fundraising goal.
The buildOn Boston Chapter has recently collaborated with the Boston Public Schools to send high school students on a Trek for Knowledge. buildOn’s Treks for Knowledge give American students the opportunity to travel to a developing country and build a school for needy students abroad. All funds I raise to run in the marathon will support that journey, so your contribution will be supporting students both at home and abroad. I hope you will join me in celebrating this amazing opportunity to contribute to bettering our world.
Because of this opportunity, I am reaching out to friends, family, and community members for contributions to this project. Whether you can give a little or a lot, please remember that any dollar amount will help me get closer to my goal.
