Hi everyone, I'm thrilled to be running the TCS New York City Marathon and to be raising money for a good cause. I carefully researched charities before choosing BronxWorks. Its mission -- providing after-school and summer programs to low-income families, and tutoring Bronx youth -- is important to me. Too often, as a reporter, I write about families who have lost loved ones to drugs, gangs, and gun violence. These young men and women succumb to bad influences at an early age, because their communities lack other options. After-school programs, tutors, sports camps -- the resources many of us from wealthy backgrounds take for granted. That's why BronxWorks is important. It puts those resources into communities that desperately need them. And it can put at-risk kids on the right track.
My fundraising commitment is $2,500. Any donation you can make, small or large, will aid BronxWorks' mission, and help me realize my dream of running the New York City Marathon. This will be my second marathon; my first in 2007 was an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience. So let's work together. You donate, I'll train. And we'll both help a community.
