Take an early lunch on Friday, May 1 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and join us at Atlanta’s beautiful Piedmont Park as our friends at BOMGAR sponsor Atlanta’s first 5k CLOT TROT!   You’ll trot along wearing your Stop the Clot t-shirts, emblazoned with the signs and symptoms of blood clots as you do your part to raise funds and awareness of the impact of blood clots.

Why is BOMGAR doing this?  Many BOMGAR employees have been affected by blood clots. One in particular is a 22 year old survivor of  a bi-lateral pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. She just passed her two-year mark on blood thinners, and it looks as though it will be a life-long journey for her. BOMGAR wants to make a difference in their lives and the lives of so many others who are or will be on the same scary journey.

One person dies every six minutes from a PE. Don’t be one of them.  Blood Clots Can Be Prevented.

By the Numbers:   The Public Health Burden Associated with Blood Clots

Consider This:  274 People Die Every Day from Blood Clots.

Blood clots affect people — people from all walks of life — and no one person is any less important than another.  It’s difficult to look at the numbers below, and not think of the individuals — their families, their friends — and not ask oneself, “Could I be at risk for a blood clot?”  The answer most certainly is, “Yes, everyone is affected by blood clots.”  Blood clots don’t discriminate.

Tragically, too many lives are affected by blood clots, and too many lives are lost because public awareness about life-threatening blood clots is so low.  Study after study have shown that fewer than 1 in 4 people have any recognition of blood clots or their signs and symptoms.  Don’t be among them.  Understand the risks. Know the signs & symptoms.
