BENEFITING: Joslin Diabetes Center
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
Hey there! Thanks so much for finding your way to my fundraising page!
For anyone I haven't had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Brian Walsh and this year, I am excited to say that I will be running in the 2017 Bank of American Chicago Marathon as a part of Team Joslin. This will be my third career marathon (Boston, 2010 & Marine Corps, 2016) and the first time running in the great city of Chicago.
Joining Team Joslin for this marathon was something I decided to do as an opportunity to add some special meaning to all the training miles and 26.2 miles I'll be running on October 8. The Joslin Diabetes Center has played a major role in my family, as my Aunt Karen has been a patient there for over 50 years after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 2. The phenomenal work done by the Joslin Center, as well as the Floating Hospital in Boston, has allowed Karen to live as a healthy type 1 diabetic for five decades.
The money raised here will go straight to funding the Joslin Center in their continuing journey to treat, and eventually cure, diabetes. Please read below for more information about the Joslin Center and I encourage everyone to look more into the great work they have done and continue to do.
Thank you so much for the support and know that every donation gets the world one step closer to a cure for diabetes.
