BENEFITING: BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK STATE INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
As some of you may know, I have registered for the TCS New York City Marathon this year! It has been on my bucket list for quite a few years and I’ve finally set my mind to do it. I’ve been training very hard since February and my goal is to finish the marathon in under 3 hours and 30 minutes! This will be a rather arduous task for me as it is my first time running a marathon and I certainly do not consider myself a long distance runner. That being said, I have found a special foundation to run for that motivates me each day to work harder and harder. Upon my research, I came across the Brain Injury Association of New York State as an official charity partner of the TCS NYC Marathon. This is the first year this organization is an official sponsor for the marathon and I am hoping that with your donations this very important organization can continue to serve as a certified charity for years to come.
Being a Physical Therapist working in the brain injury unit at Glen Cove Hospital Northwell Health, I can relate hand in hand with the goals of this organization. I come across countless patients that suffer debilitating losses in function due to strokes and/or brain injury and have become very close to one of my patients who suffered a stroke two years ago. He works day in and day out to keep improving and no one I know works harder than him. I would like to dedicate this marathon to him and to everyone who has suffered from strokes. Please help me in raising money for this foundation by providing whatever kind donation you can. Every little bit helps. Again, I feel privileged to be running this marathon to achieve a lifelong goal all while being able to raise money to help others. I look forward to keeping you all updated on my training as well as seeing some familiar faces on Sunday, November 6th! Thank you in advance for all of your support.
