The BGCNC kitchen project is heating up and we need YOUR help to finish the job and get North Country kids fed!

Have you ever been at work or school trying to concentrate on a task, but hunger gets in your way? It’s hard to focus when your stomach is empty, you haven’t had a meal and don’t know when you’ll get the next one. Now imagine you’re six, or seven, or eleven. For many of our club members this is an everyday occurrence…

At our Club, 52% of our members are considered “food insecure.” This means that their family consistently lacks access to enough food to live an active and healthy life.

In the Granite State, 1 in 8 children struggle with hunger. In Grafton County, 13% of our children are food insecure. Even though food insecurity statistics rise the further north you go, we are currently the only Boys & Girls Club in the state that does not have a commercial kitchen or the ability to serve hot meals to its members.

A commercial kitchen means we will be able to extend our hours, provide meals during afterschool and vacation camps, and offer vocational programs to teach our members about healthy nutrition and cooking basics – skills that will last a lifetime.

At BGCNC, we have broken ground on our commercial kitchen, but we need your help to complete this project and make this dream a reality. On this Giving Tuesday, and for the remainder of May, we are attempting to raise $20,000 to receive a matching gift from an incredibly generous member of the BGCNC family.

To date, we have framed out walls for sheet rock, broken ground for plumbing, started electrical work, and officially have all of the equipment and appliances we need. But to continue moving forward, we need your help!
