Now in Season 25, Bowen McCauley Dance Company (BMDC) is renowned for the athleticism and graceful balletic undertones of its professional dancers and the unique and sublime choreography of its founding Artistic Director, Lucy Bowen McCauley. The Company collaborates with world-class musicians, artists and designers to produce its annual performance season. BMDC performs regionally and nationally, and has been presented at Festivals in such places as Jacob’s Pillow (NY), Germany, Mexico and China.

In the Washington, DC area the Company has been presented by the Washington Performing Arts Society and performed at the Historic Shakespeare Lansburgh and Harman Theatre, the Kennedy Center, 1st Stage, and Signature Theatre, to name a few. BMDC also collaborates with numerous dance and musical groups including Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Cantate Chamber Singers, Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, the Kennedy Center National Orchestra, Arlington’s National Chamber Ensemble, and Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra.

BMDC puts the “A” in STEM education providing entertaining and educational community outreach programs throughout the DC Metro region. The K-12 programs include interactive school performances, workshops, and after-school dance residency programs. The Company also provides FREE educational curriculum set to VA Standards of Learning (SOL) and provides students with deeper learning as to the interconnectedness of arts to science, math and engineering.

BMDC is a certified affiliate of the Mark Morris Dance Group’s research-backed Dance for PD program. The Company leads FREE, weekly Dance for Parkinson’s Disease classes for people with Parkinson Disease and their care-partners in nine DC metro area locations. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Company continues to provide the free weekly Dance for PD classes via virtual live streaming for those that continue to shelter in their homes. We will continue to lead virtual classes and plan to reopen January 2021 in eight-nine DC Metro area locations.
