BENEFITING: Twin Cities In Motion
ORGANIZER: Twin Cities In Motion
This last April, my dad passed away. I wasn't sure what to do or even how to live my life without him. How would I ever go on living without one of my most important people? One of my dad's many lines was, "you just keep putting one foot in front of the other"....and that is what I hope to do. For my dad. For me. For my family.
After this huge loss, I began running more. There is something about running that makes me feel free and that makes me feel happier, stronger, and for some reason, more connected to my dad.
I need to start doing more to help others. The Boston Marathon tradgedy made me realize even more that there are things out there BIGGER THAN MY OWN PROBLEMS. Young, innocent people losing their lives, or legs, or family members....I cannot imagine what that feels like. I hope that I will never experience that kind of pain.
My hope is that I can do SOMETHING. I am running the Twin Cities Red White and Boom half marathon and I dedicate every step to those innocent people who were affected by such cold, heartless acts of violence. Ironically, this race is on the 4th of July. One of the most important holidays our nation celebrates. A day that we come together and stand together. We will stand together as a nation knowing that the heart of our country is within each of us. We continue to move forward and we will do what we can do to heal. This is my part....
If you can donate even a dollar, I would so greatly appreciate it. Any amount at all. I am sorry to send this out to everyone, but I have come to realize that it's just one of those things that I have to do. Thank you so much for any help. It's obviously appreciated more than you know.

Helping Boston Heal, One Mile at a Time.
(Please click "See More" for all of the ways you can help and be Boston Strong!)
Like all of you, we at Twin Cities In Motion have paused countless times to think about Boston, with our thoughts and condolences for the Boston Marathon bombing victims always top of mind. Our shock and disbelief quickly progressed to an overwhelming desire to help heal our running community.
Our resolve is to keep running. Strong. Boston Strong. And, to aid the Boston community with a sizeable financial donation. In addition to TCM's contribution to the victims and their families, we have received many requests from runners asking how they could partner with us and help. Here's how you can!
1) RUN THE MEDTRONIC TC 1 MILE MAY 9
We have chosen to dedicate our next TCM event – the Medtronic TC 1 Mile– to the Boston community and contribute our financial support as well. TCM will donate 10% of each Medtronic TC 1 Mile registration fee to the victims of the Boston Marathon attacks. In addition, Twin Cities In Motion will match those contributions in an effort to raise $10,000 total. To register for the Medtronic TC 1 Mile, click here.
2) MAKE A ONE-TIME DONATION
Any amount helps! Make a gift to Twin Cities In Motion (a non-profit corporation) via this page. All contributions Twin Cities In Motion receives from the TCM Runs For Boston fundraiser here will be passed on to a worthy charity helping those directly affected by the tragic events in Boston.
3) RUN ANY TCM EVENT IN 2013 & RAISE FUNDS
Through this page, TCM Runs For Boston, you can "Join Our Team" and run the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon or any other event we offer, while raising money for the Boston victims and their families. Join the team by clicking "Create Your Fundraiser" on the right side of this page, and go to www.tcmevents.org/events to register for any Twin Cities In Motion event. Your friends and family can then make contributions to the Boston efforts online via Crowdrise, through Twin Cities In Motion.
Twin Cities In Motion, a member of Road Runners Club of America, is a non-profit corporation that organizes and directs the annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and related events as a community service for the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Area.
