Like Soccer? We love it too.
On June 15, 2017, the Boston Brakers power wheelchair soccer team will embark on an exciting journey to Indianapolis to compete in the US Power Soccer Associations (http://www.powersoccerusa.org/) national championships taking place, June 16th through June 18. We are a program of Boston Self Help Center (BSHC), a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness of endless possibilities of adaptive sports.
The Team (10 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie) is very excited to qualify and represent the spirit of Boston this year once again. We can do this together. Join us!
The Brakers continue growing with new team members and those that started with us five years ago. Our goal is to enable all of our players regardless of financial need to attend this wonderful event and experience national competition. Our expenses include:
- flights for our team of 7 and 6 support staff and personal care attendants
- a U-Haul truck to transport our soccer chairs from Boston to Indianapolis and back
- a U-Haul truck driver who will also join our support staff
- hotel rooms for the 14 of us; double occupancy of course
- van rentals at the tournament to get from the airport to the hotel
To make this possible, we need your support. You can count on us showing up to play and leaving it all on the court.
As a thank you to our donors, we will randomly select 2 people to join us in 1 of our training sessions. It will be a fun experience for all of us as we show you how competitive and challenging this sport can be. We also have a few Boston Brakers T-shirts which we will make available to our first donors who donate $100 or more. Sorry that we don’t have more to offer but we wouldn’t be asking for your support if we did.
Special note: We have found a donor that will match the first $1000 donated here towards our goal of $15,000.
