Alexander is KILLING IT!
September 02, 2016
BENEFITING: Back on My Feet
ORGANIZER: Back on My Feet
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
I’m absolutely pumped to be running the NYC Marathon alongside Rico and Alexander, two veterans I’ve gotten to know through BOMF. Getting together earlier than I care to admit in the morning to run with them has been the single most inspirational thing I’ve ever done. Both are US Navy veterans with multiple deployments who have overcome more than I can share in a single paragraph. They’re living examples that no matter what happens in your life, there is nothing you can’t overcome with a positive attitude and hard work. I feel as if I’m getting just as much benefit of perspective from them as they are from our support for the program. The big difference is that they’ve already “paid” for their experiences, whereas the program needs not their support, but ours to continue to build and support our members. The program works, Alexander and Rico are proof of that, but it only works with our dedication to the cause. In the three years since its inception, BOMF NYC has helped over 100 members find employment, independent housing and education/training programs. There’s no telling how many more that we can help that just need the chance. Please consider helping us as we look to give what we can to those who have already given much more for our country. Thank you for your support!
Rules of the road:
- For a $50 donation I will write your name on my shirt to show your support as Rico, Alexander and I make our way through the streets of NYC
- A $100 donation also grants you the right to pick a song on my running playlist during the race ($150 for any Miley Cyrus songs)
- Anyone who donates $500 or more gets the glamorous distinction of helping me accessorize for the race. Other than shoes or shirt, you can select any accessory within reason for me to rock during the race. From fairy wings to a Packers hat, our cause is bigger than my pride
