Our mission is to engage skateboarders in community service in an effort to provide skateboarding equipment to youth who cannot afford to buy their own. We believe that skateboarding can be a powerful tool to teach perseverance, promote exercise, and provide an outlet for personal expression.
We enable local skateshops and skateboarders to collect donations of gently used equipment and refurbish the skateboards for distribution to local youth-centred nonprofits, local skateparks and local skate programs in need of equipment.
Our local Boards for Bros chapters work with youth-centered nonprofits, youth in foster care and target underserved neighborhoods in the vicinities of skateparks (most skateparks do not have rental or loaner eqipment). Our skater volunteers are involved in all phases of our projects (donation, build and distribution phases) and are able to directly experience the impact their hard work has on their local community. This engagement often inspires further volunteerism. The magic of the gift of skateboarding is that it changes the lives of our volunteers and the youth who could never experience skateboarding without our help.
Our headquarters is at the Skatepark of Tampa and we have chapters in South Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Illinois and California. We have done projects across North America, Cuba, Honduras and Venezuela.
