BENEFITING: Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation
ORGANIZER: Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation
I started interning with Blue Ocean Society in the summer of 2011, and immediately fell in love with whales and the ocean. I can remember feeling so lucky that I had the chance to spend my summer out on Jeffreys Ledge, educating passengers, researching whales, cleaning up NH beaches, and sharing my passion for the marine environment.
After that summer I was hooked and have been with Blue Ocean Society ever since. I now work as the programs and volunteer coordinator and have more opportunities to share my passion with others. Some of my favorite memories involve educating students about whales while the are sitting inside a life-size model of a fin whale (the second largest animal on the planet!), or hearing the creative questions about whales (like if whales have twins, how big their hearts are, etc.) from passengers and students. There is never a dull moment here at Blue Ocean Society.
I firmly believe that education is the key to protecting the marine environment and the animals that call it home. Help me continue this important work by making a donation (no matter how small) to our Crowdrise Holiday challenge and see your donation stretch in ways you never thought possible.
Throughout the challenge if I personally raise over $500 I will jump in the freezing-cold ocean at the close of the challenge (near January 6). You know you want to donate!
