Family, Friends and Colleagues,
On Nov 6, 2016, I am planning to run the NYC Marathon in memory of my Dad (in the picture) and all the other Holocaust survivors – raising money for the blue card (http://www.bluecardfund.org). The mission of The Blue Card is to provide direct financial assistance to needy Holocaust survivors; they assist over 2,400 survivors annually.
Although my dad considered himself to be one of the lucky ones to live his life and prosper in Israel – he passed away six years ago. He always gave back as much as he could to those who already lost so much. As these men and woman age, they are plagued with the consequences of surviving the most devastating conditions imaginable, including poor nutrition and no medical care – I know it firsthand watching the lasting effects those physical and mental conditions effected my dad. The least I could do is to continue his wishes of helping, supporting, and never forgetting their suffering.
The Blue Card offers its invaluable help to Holocaust survivors through a variety of vital programs. Some examples are Emergency Cash Assistance, Dental, Monthly Stipend, High Jewish Holiday Support, Birthdays, and Bring a Smile.
The Blue Card is a 501 (c) (3) organization; 100% of annual contributions made by individuals go directly to aiding needy Holocaust survivors.
