THE STORY:

"BMHA connecting communities of color to behavioral health professionals and resources since 1984" Support the work of Black Mental Health Alliance for Education and Consultation, Inc. BMHA is a private non-profit 501(C)3 organization which provides training, consultation, support groups, resource referral, public information, and educational resources regarding mental health and mental illness issues. We have worked for over 30 years to provide a forum and promote a holistic, culturally relevant approach to the development and maintenance of optimal mental health programs and services for African Americans and other people of color.

With each dollar given, your contribution will…

Provide the community with a FREE information and referral database of mental health and substance abuse treatment resources.

Support the continued dialogue of mental health and mental illness in our community with the goal of improving our emotional well-being.

Sustain the Black Mental Health Think Tank and National Resource Center to provide the platform for national and local thought leaders to share their research and work directly with the village.

Continue the dissemination of information to dismantle the stigma associated with mental health.

Provide resources so that BMHA may lead the effort to write and publish our stories, position and “State of” for Black Mental Health issues.

Allow BMHA to build capacity through membership outreach.

Stand in agreement that we are all working toward the same goal, healing in our community and making a difference!

We experienced the loss of a neighbor earlier this year, a wonderful young black man who was struggling with issues around mental health and took his own life. Although we only saw him occasionally, there was no indication to us that he was suffering, as he only seemed ever full of life, creativity, and ambition. We supported and encouraged him, cheered his successes, and celebrated the birth of his son. We are deeply heartbroken and hope this small gift can help bring essential support to others who need it. 2 months ago
