EVENT DATE: Oct 11, 2014
BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT: Bike PHifty
In June 2014, Team PHenomenal Hope completed Race Across America (RAAM) -- cycling from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland in just 7 days, 7 hours and 15 minutes – and raised awareness and funds for Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). To see and hear about their experience, visit http://teamphenomenalhope.org/raamftermath! In support of Team PHenomenal Hope, we (Sue and Camm) created our first PH fundraising event – bike PHifty. On October 5, 2013, joined by three friends, we cycled 50 miles. Thanks to the generous support of family and friends, we raised over $5,000!
This year, we are again planning a bike PHifty ride! The event will take place in Saratoga Springs on October 11, 2014. A portion of the ride will be through the Saratoga National Historical Park, the site of the Battle of Saratoga (the turning point of the American Revolution). Friends and family can join us in spirit, cheer us on, ride with us 10 miles (once around the Battlefield), 20 miles (twice around the Battlefield) or 50 miles (ride from our home to the battlefield, twice around the battlefield and back to our home), and/or relax with us later in the day.
Dani was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2005 when she was nine years old. This Fall she is a college freshman! Unfortunately, other patients and families have different stories. One of Dani’s PHriends, Caitlin Barley, died on May 26, 2010 at age 15 -- just weeks before she and Dani were hoping to meet face-to-face at a PH conference.
We dedicate this year’s ride in memory of Caitlin and in honor of Dani’s freshman year at college.
