It’s time to tell our story, the story of Utah’s women, and the story of one monumental woman in particular. The year 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of Utah being the first place a woman cast a ballot and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which extended women’s voting rights throughout the nation.
We’re commemorating these events by:
• Installing a statue of Dr. Martha Hughes Cannon, the first woman state senator, in National Statuary Hall in Washington D.C.
• Creating a memorial to Utah women’s history in Salt Lake City
• Educating Utah school children about Martha Hughes Cannon
and Utah’s illustrious women’s history
