For every $250 I raise an underprivileged, special needs or at-risk kid will get to go to camp this summer. Going to camp is something these kids would not otherwise get to do. Many of our kids are underprivileged and from poor communities. They have never been in a lake, never built a camp fire and never gone canoeing. After having a daughter, I better understand the importance of children gaining new experiences. At 1 year we took her to a petting farm. She only knew a couple of words, like "da da" but when we left she was "baaing" like crazy. From then on, she made her toy sheep "baa" and sheep in books. She clearly learned what a sheep was and what it sounds like in those few minutes. Giving kids new experiences will help them understand that there is more to the world than they know. It gives them hope, challenges them to try new things and opens their eyes to new opportunities. Please help me send 3 kids to camp!
