THE STORY:
About two years ago, my brother-in-law David Koch was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive form of Brain Cancer. Since his diagnosis, we have had all hands on deck to get David the most advanced treatment from the best doctors with the most cutting-edge research. What we have learned is that this research and the funding of clinical trials is significantly reliant on fundraising.
On Sunday, November 5th, I will be teaming up with the B*CURED Team and running the New York City Marathon in hopes to raise awareness and funding for this horrible disease.
B*CURED’s mission is to end brain cancer by funding innovative research grants. To date, B*CURED has awarded 14 grants to investigators searching for a cure for brain cancer at nationally ranked universities and hospitals.
B*CURED is an all-volunteer 501 (c) 3 organization, founded in 2008 by Debbie Needle and Melissa Salamé. B*CURED is run by co-presidents Karena Bailey and Kristin Duda. All money raised goes directly to brain cancer research.
B*CURED's fight is personal. All of us have had a loved one affected by this horrible illness. It is time to change the depressingly low statistics and give people the chance to survive brain cancer.
Thank you for your support. #BeatBrainCancer!
