BENEFITING: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
ORGANIZER: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
In less than one month, one of my dreams will turn into a reality. On November 6th, I will be running my first-ever marathon – the TCS New York City marathon! When I was informed that I was chosen to run this year after putting my name in the “lottery”, I was in utter disbelief mixed with an exhilarating feeling of excitement.
Running my first-ever marathon has been a goal of mine since completing by first ever half marathon in 2013. I took to running more than 5 years ago. It was a significant endeavor since I was never the “athletic” type growing up. But what began with a leisurely summer walk, then became a small jog near my home that turned into a passion. My parents always instilled in my sisters and me that with hard work and commitment, “you can do it.” Fast forward, this sport has not only become a passion but has helped me through my journey called life.
As part of this experience, I decided that I also wanted to give back. I have worked on The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign for more than 10 years, which was founded by the late Mrs. Evelyn Lauder, who launched The BCA Campaign in 1992.
I have had the great honor and privilege to work closely with Mrs. Evelyn Lauder on numerous Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness global initiatives, including a first-time Guinness World Record for the “Most Landmarks Illuminated for a Cause in 24 hours.” Mrs. Lauder was an extraordinarily inspirational woman and her legacy continues to inspire and motivate me to give back.
I hope you consider supporting me by making a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. Just click the orange "Donate" button in the upper right hand corner.
$25 dollars supports one half hour of breast cancer research. Any amount you can give is so appreciated.
Every donation will be directed to the Evelyn H. Lauder’s Founder's Fund, an initiative established in 2013, to address the persistent challenges of breast cancer metastasis. The Founder’s Fund is an international, multi-year collaboration focused on dissecting the molecular basis of metastasis. To date, BCRF has dedicated $31 million to the Founder’s Fund to fuel research that will accelerate discoveries to improve outcomes for people living with metastatic breast cancer.
On behalf of all the women and men who have been impacted by this disease and to the beloved Mrs. Lauder, I dedicate this run to you!
Thank you for all of your support. xoxo
