And, the annual event helps support the Barber National Institute and its work with children and adults with disabilities and behavioral health challenge.
Founded in 1952, the Barber National Institute today serves more than 4,200 children and adults with intellectual disabilities and behavioral health challenges and their families. In addition to the main campus in Erie, PA, the organization offers programs in many areas throughout northwestern PA and the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh region.
Services include early intervention therapies for infants and toddlers, an approved private school that serves more than 240 students with autism and multiple disabilities from 22 area school districts, and a wide range of behavioral health services including family based mental health therapy, case management, social skills development and mobile therapy. The Barber National Institute is also one of Pennsylvania’s largest providers of residential services including 76 group homes, supported living in individual homes and Lifesharing, a program that enables adults with disabilities to live in private homes of provider individuals, couples or families. The Barber National Institute also provides services to develop employment skills and job placement and coaching with community employers, and a variety of adult day services to foster independence and community integration.
The Barber National Institute employs more than 2,200 staff who are dedicated to the organization’s mission of making dreams come true. For more information, visit www.BarberInstitute.org
