Autoimmune hemolytic anemia

For the past year my mother has been desperately ill. It began with her having blood transfusions once a month and the doctors thought she had an iron deficiency. Over time and lots of testing they found out that was not her problem at all it was a disease called autoimmune hemolytic anemia of the warm variety. Unfortunately up until now they still don't know what is causing this. They sent her to Duke Medical Center and with additional testing there we've gotten absolutely nowhere. At this point she is having a blood transfusion every other week and the iron has begun to build up in her system and make her very sick they've prescribed her a medication for that however it cost $10,000 every 30 days. This on top of her growing medical bills is extremely overwhelming. She was declared disabled 5 years ago after being attacked by a disoriented patient while working in a nursing home. 4 of her vertebrae were fractured and after having a metal apparatus placed in her back she contracted MRSA and the apparatus had to be removed. She's very lucky to be able to walk at this point but her nursing career came to an end and at the age of 55 she lost everything her home her career and it sent her spiraling into depression. I would very much like to help my mother climb out of this debt unfortunately I don't have the means as I am a student and working two jobs as a waitress while raising my own children. My hope is to take some of the stress off of her by helping with this medication that is prolonging her life and allowing us to enjoy her for a little while longer
