What's in a Transport??

We always talk about the urgent dogs we save or the amazing foster homes that take these dogs in; but what about the most important people of all?? Those who get these dogs from the shelters or streets to these foster homes?? Let's talk transport.... This week we want to raise a toast to those who help us ensure these pups in need get to where they need to go.

Since most of our dogs are saved from the Southern states and travel north to their foster homes, they require a health certificate on top of any other needed vetting before they can even leave their home state! And that's at least $50 before the pups even get in a car to start their trip north.... not to mention, gas money for volunteers who are willing to help drive, and transport fees for organizations such as Grateful Doggies or Saving Them All. And even with these wonderful organizations, they can only go so far, and then we rely on volunteers once again to get these pups the rest of the way.

Have you ever made a road trip along the east coast?? All that traffic, all that time, all those tolls??? This is truly the "grunt work" that so often goes unnoticed and unthanked, so this week, we want to say THANK YOU to all who make this part of what we do feasible, since without y'all we truly wouldn't be able to get dogs like Duke, who was pulled from a North Carolina shelter, to his foster home in Maine; and without the ability to do this, too many dogs would remain in shelters where they would likely be euthanized all because we can't get them from point A to point B. This is a cost we're always willing to pay, but the question remains - how do we find the funding for this?? Through you! Through campaigns like this one! On average, we spend roughly $50 per state that a dog travels, and imagine how many states dogs like Duke travel through?? You truly are the reason we are able to help rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome 300+ dogs every year!
