BENEFITING: EB Research Partnership
Anton Ezekiel Delgado was born a twin on January 16, 2010 in Russia. He was born with a very rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. His twin was healthy and was taken home, but Anton was abandoned in the hospital. God orchestrated a beautiful story and we, a family from Texas, found him and brought him home on March 17, 2012, shortly after his second birthday.
Anton had the biggest personality and smile of anyone around, was brave beyond compare, and became affectionately known as the boy who charmed the world.
EB is devastating genetic condition to which there is currently no cure. In hopes of strengthening Anton's skin and improving his quality of life, he underwent a Bone Marrow Transplant at the University of Minnesota in March 2015 under the care of Dr. Jakub Tolar. The BMT donor cells would help to strengthen Anton's skin and prevent further blistering and sensitivity to touch and friction. The BMT was successful, and Anton's skin began to improve. Wounds that would never heal began to grow skin, and places that were previously sensitive became much stronger. Anton maintained a very special relationship with Dr. Tolar and we all became great advocates for the groundbreaking research Dr. Tolar continues to work on. He is the most passionate and dedicated doctor and we know he will not stop until a cure is found.
On November 27th, a CT scan showed that Anton had intussusception. His intestines were going into his stomach which was going into his colon, and it was all intertwined. He underwent a very risky surgery when the doctors tried to repair the damage. On December 10th, the spot where they repaired the intestines came undone. Anton's body had been through so much already. He was weak, and there was nothing else they could do for him. God gave the us five beautiful days with our Sweet Anton before calling him home.

At the request of the Delgado family, all donations to Anton the Brave will be used to support the groundbreaking EB research of Dr. Jakub Tolar at the Unversity of Minnesota.
When people asked Anton what he wanted to be when he grew up, one of his answers was always that he wanted to be just like Dr. Tolar and find a cure for EB.
Please help honor Anton's dream by supporting Dr. Tolar's research.
