Our family invites you to join us in support of “Anna’s Team” at the Alma Highland Festival Series of Races on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015. This year marks the 5th Anniversary since Anna Elizabeth Frutiger passed away at age 23, on May 20, 2010. A fatal pulmonary embolism (PE), the result of an undiagnosed deep vein thrombosis (DVT), took her life. Since then, her friends and family have worked to honor Anna’s life by helping to educate others about the signs, symptoms and risk factors for blood clots- deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. 274 people die every day from this sudden killer.
The mission of the National Blood Clot Alliance ( www.stoptheclot.org) is to stop unnecessary and preventable deaths from blood clots through education and awareness of both the healthcare profession and the general public. “Anna’s Team” will once again be raising funds to promote the vitally important work of this organization.
600,000 people suffer from blood clots every year in our country and over 100,000 of them die as a result. This represents more deaths each year than those from breast cancer, ovarian cancer and motor vehicle accidents combined.
The Alma Highland Festival is special because Anna loved participating as a highland dancer and a runner in the races. Anna was committed to making life better for everyone she knew. Please join, in whatever way you are able, to continue Anna’s legacy and our family’s passion and commitment to educate others about DVTs and PEs. We welcome your participation as a runner, fundraiser or donor to continue to honor Anna.
