BENEFITING: Anna Schindler Foundation
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2016
Many of you already know I finished the Coeur d Alene Ironman last year for a very special organization, The Anna Schindler Foundation, raising $3,465. It was truly one of the most emotional experiences I have ever had. I have committed to doing the half Ironman this year and have not fully decided on doing the full again too. The amount of time and training two years in a row is a little difficult but nothing comparable to what these kids and families go through.
This amazing foundation hits very close to home as I was one of Anna's nurses as she fought Hepatoblastoma. She unfortunately lost her battle with this horrible liver cancer after only 5 months. Anna holds a very special place in my heart. Her family built this foundation in her honor and they are some of the most amazing people I know. I see first hand what the foundation does for the local oncology patients and families and am honored to be part of this. I couldn't ever imagine being told my child has cancer, and then expect to have to worry about all the other day to day responsibilites. This year has been extremely tough in the childhood cancer world. To many new diagnosis already this year and far to many losses.
All these kids are super heroes that give all of us inspiration and the strength and courage to keep fighting whatever battle it is we are given to fight. This IRONMAN is for the kids. I can't do this alone though. I will put in the hours of training and give it everything I have to finish this race if you can please help me reach my goal of $3,000 to help our incredible oncology families.
Please take a moment to watch the video posted to learn about the Anna Schindler Foundation and how they help the local oncology families. Please donate what you can and pass this along to everyone you know. Thank you so very much!
From the Foundation- The mission of the Anna Schindler Foundation is to support families battling childhood cancer and raise awareness in the Inland Northwest. We fulfill our mission by aiding these families with meals cards while their child is inpatient at the hospital, offsetting grocery, gas, car repair, lodging, living and medical expenses. We have even helped with the cost of burying a child. If a family has a need we will exhaust our efforts to lighten the load so they can focus on the care of their child. It is also a dream of the Anna Schindler Foundation to build temporary housing, Anna’s Homes, for pediatric oncology families from outlying areas who must stay close to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital for treatment. Several athletes are competing in the IRONMAN CDA 70.3 and 140.6 to raise money for families battling childhood cancer. We are grateful to IRONMAN FOUNDATION for this opportunity to race and fund raise in our community.
