Meet my amazing friend Randa. When I met her 7 years ago, she loved to laugh and meet new people. She was a guidance counselor at a high school near Aleppo, Syria when she met Bassel, the love of her life. He was a young, prominent pediatric dentist with blonde hair and an easy smile. On September 2008 they got married with nothing but dreams and happiness in sight. In July of 2011, they had baby Joey, a chubby little angel with his mother's smile and father's blonde hair.

Fast forward and Homs, Randa's hometown is the site of some of the worst devastation in Syria. Randa, Bassel and Joey have stayed in Aleppo. Although Aleppo, a thriving city of 5 million seemed safe for a while, violence was erupting in pockets around the city. One day the violence came literally to their backyard. As baby Joey slept inside explosions ripped through their backyard. Soon after, fighters stormed their Christian neighborhood shooting randomly and threating to return the next day to enter each home and kill the Christians who had remained. That same day, Randa, Bassel and Joey packed up what they could in bags and left their country to become refugees in Lebanon even though Syrians refugees are denied the ability to work.

Miraculously, Randa, Bassel and baby Joey have been approved for visas to come to the United States. Amazing! This means that when they come they can apply for asylum and begin again to live their dreams. They have been working with an attorney who is going to work with them on the asylum process and thinks all will be fine. Unfortunately it is expensive and here is where you can really make a difference.

All they request:

$6,000.00 - the attorney's fees for asylum and
$4,000.00 - the amount for 6 months rent so they can begin anew.

If you knew this family, you would love them. No doubt. I ask that you show them some love even before knowing them so we can be the country with open arms for this little family that has been through so much!

Thank you!
