Event Date: May 25, 2015 at 9:00am
On Memorial Day 2015 Opportunity Detroit and Justin Verlander’s Wins for Warriors are coming together to engage the community in local mental health programs and services supporting veterans and their families, while having an unforgettable experience in downtown Detroit. M-SPAN Programs will be one of the beneficiaries of this race!
Become a part of the M-SPAN Team and help support Michigan's veterans! By joining our team or donating to our cause, you will be helping us provide programs for service members, veterans, and military families. M-SPAN has helped over 2,200 veterans and families and with your help we can help thousands more!
This isn't just any race! Participants will end with an unforgettable experience of crossing home plate at Comerica Park while family and friends cheer them on from the stands.
Also, in case you were wondering, 9K is just about 5.6 miles. There will be a 1 mile walking option that will also finish at home plate!
M-SPAN programs are dedicated to military mental health and include innovative approaches to outreach, overcoming stigma, and the design and delivery of programs for military families. We are honored to do this work in partnership with the Michigan Army National Guard, and to develop and implement programs to meet the needs of our citizen soldiers and their families. The M-SPAN programs at the University of Michigan are part of the Welcome Back Veterans national initiative, a collaboration between Major League Baseball and the McCormick Foundation. visit www.m-span.org to learn more and follow @MSPANprograms.
