Americares emergency response teams are working with Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population and local partner organizations to assess needs, coordinate relief efforts, treat survivors and distribute medicines and supplies. Our initial emergency shipment in response to the hurricane was among the first aid to arrive in Les Cayes, following a perilous journey through washed out bridges, landslides and other obstacles. Americares mobile medical teams, staffed by Haitian doctors and nurses, are providing care to patients in devastated communities in the Sud department. Americares will continue deliveries of lifesaving aid, including resources to support cholera prevention and treatment. Additionally, 21 volunteer medical teams supported by Americares are preparing trips to Haiti in November and December.
