BENEFITING: AMERICAN LIVER FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: AMERICAN LIVER FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Dear Friends and Family:
I am honored to share with you that I will be running the TCS NYC Marathon, November 6, 2016, in support of the American Liver Foundation, a cause near and dear to my heart. I never thought I would become such an avid runner, but it has become a part of my commitment towards a healthier lifestyle for myself, and the example I set for my children. When the opportunity came up for me to continue this commitment, for a cause that affects my everyday, I knew it was meant to be.
THE ALF is committed to facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. Many forms of liver disease are preventable, and many more can be cured if detected early. Yet tens of thousands of people in the U.S. are living with liver disease and don’t even know it.
75% of the infected population are unaware that they are infected with HCV;
Liver disease is the 4th leading cause of death in the US between the ages of 45 and 54;
More than 6mm children in the US have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease;
At least 30 million people—or one in 10 Americans—have some form of liver disease. At the same time, keep in mind that there are more than 100 types of liver disease;
Up to 5.4 million americans have Chronic Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C infection in the US;
As most of you already know, I have dedicated my career to working with patients suffering from various forms of Liver Disease. Every day I work to educate patients on their options for treatments and on going care, to ensure they are armed with the best information possible to make informed decisions about their health. I know early detection, education, and consistent followup are the key to living the longest life possible, and organizations like the American Liver Foundation are dedicated to this mission.
On November 6th, I will run 26.2 miles to keep this message going. You can help!
I have committed to raising $3000 to support the crucial programming driven by the American Liver Foundation. By making a small donation of any size, you can help me reach this goal as I train for one of the most significant milestones in my life, for a cause that means so much to the lives of so many.
Thank you in advance for your support, because until there is a cure for all diseases, there is no finish line.
