The American Indian Council of Mariposa County is the 501c3 Non Profit of the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation. The Miwuk's Healing Center Miwumati provides education, social services, economic development, health services and access to affordable housing, fresh foods and clean water to its members. We provide inter-generational education to our members and the public concerning the historical, social, and cultural traditions of the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation. We take any action necessary for the protection and preservation of Indian cemeteries, burial and archeological sites, and artifacts. We encourage and promote by all practical means a proper system of education for members of all ages in such subjects as home economics, hygiene, child care and development, etc. cooperating with state and federal departments and agencies which seek to promote such work. We administer scholarship programs if and when funding is available for such programs. Our daily mission is to build resiliency and cultural survivance for the Southern Sierra Miwuk.
