Our Founder and Executive Director started Valor Service Dogs because of her husband, a combat wounded veteran with complete and permanent physical disabilities. She understands the real life challenges facing these wounded veterans and their families, and both she and her husband are committed to placing life-changing service dogs with veterans.
The mission of Valor Service Dogs is to help post-9/11 wounded veterans regain their independence, return to civilian life, and maintain successful partnerships through the training and placing of mobility assistance and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) service dogs. We provide these service dogs at no cost to eligible veterans, nationwide. We also strive to educate the public on service dogs and the laws that grant them the same rights as their veterans, as community support and involvement is critical to success. We often speak at elementary schools, Boy Scout Troops and local American Legions to spread the word and educate the future generations.
We are a young organization and greatly benefit from the generous support of our community. Founded in 2015, in Tampa, Florida, we've grown from 2 puppies, who are now , to 6 dogs in training and 2 more puppies on the way any day now. We have one full-time employee and are fortunate enough to have a team of volunteers who devote their time and hearts to helping us train these service dogs. Each donation, big or small, helps us fulfill our mission and goes towards expenses such as purchasing purpose-bred golden retrievers, dog food, treats, training supplies, hosting veterans to meet their dog for the first time, vet care expenses and keeping the lights on at our training facility.
