BENEFITING: Rebuilding Together Seattle
It can be easy to take for granted the comfort of coming home to a warm, safe house. Things like a hot shower, insulated windows, and secure doors are necessary for a healthy home, but thousands of Seattle-area families go without them every day. One of these families is Albert and his 12-year-old grandson, Che Shawn. Albert and Che Shawn live in the Central District neighborhood of Seattle. Albert, who is 62, works part-time, but his wages are not enough to cover the home repairs they need to make their home a safe and healthy place for him and Che Shawn to live.
Albert applied for help from Rebuilding Together Seattle, a local nonprofit that brings volunteers ad community partners together to provide safe housing for our neighbors in need. Ambrose Construction, a small Seattle-area construction firm, wants to help Albert and Che Shawn by completing the home safety and accessibility improvements they need through Rebuilding Together Seattle. They hope to replace a sliding glass door, fix a leak in their basement, repair siding, improve electricity access by repairing outlets, and fix major gutter damage to keep water away from the home. But they can’t do it without your help: Ambrose is aiming to raise $5,000 from our fellow community members in order to pay for the construction materials needed to complete these improvements. Please consider joining us in providing a safe and healthy home for our neighbors in need. You can make a difference in the lives of Albert and Che Shawn: donate today!
