EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
My mother - Rita Trotta began introducing me as her nephew in 1993 at age 68 and lost her fight with Alzheimer’s in 2000. The next year my father-in-law Michael Klapper succumbed to Alzheimer's.
This year I am running the Boston Marathon on the Run to End Alzheimer’s Team and I need your help to achieve my goal of raising $15,000 for this great cause.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Recent studies actually put it at third yet many still don't understand the severity of the problem. Of the top ten diseases, it remains the only one with no cure, no treatment, and cannot be slowed. Since 2000, deaths from the disease have risen 68% while deaths from the other major diseases have declined.
Every little bit counts. I am running in memory of my mother and father in law but it’s very likely that you know someone affected by Alzheimer’s. My participation is to honor them as well.
With your help, we can do our part to continue to fund the research necessary to find a cure. I am extremely fortunate to be a part of an awesome team of runners, administrators, and volunteers using the inspiration and occasion of the 2014 Boston Marathon in support of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Please join me in supporting this challenge!
Thank you in advance for your support. Keep up with my training with the Alzheimer's team on my Facebook page.
