THE STORY:
I'm running the STEEL CHALLENGE (5K then half marathon) on May 5&6, 2018 to raise money in honor of my Dad, George Simonson, who was diagnosed with ALS in March 2013. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Your generous donation will go to the ALS Association. My father is amazing...nothing shakes his spirit. I'm running to celebrate him. My Dad is thankful for every day. He counts his blessings and faces all things with a kind heart and a sense of humor. He inspires me, gives me hope when all seems lost, and reminds me to stop and appreciate the little things in life. With each step I take while training and on race day, I'll be thinking of him. I need your help to reach my goal. I ran the full Pittsburgh Marathon in 2011, 2015, and 2017. I'm excited to try the Steel Challenge this year.
