Being an NFCR Youth Ambassador will yield me the opportunity to become an international leader of community service as well as allow me increase awareness of current cancer prevention methods worldwide. I hope that through my involvement I encourage my peers to become involved in their communities and learn more about cancer research and prevention.
Nearly eight years ago, my grandfather, one of the most influential and inspirational people in my life passed away from cancer. He had an infinite love for his family and friends and also for the sport of baseball. My fondest memories with him are at baseball games cheering on our local Minor League team to victory. These memories and his genuine love of baseball have inspired me to launch Play4theCure, an already established NFCR program, in professional sports leagues, beginning with Major and Minor League Baseball. Expanding the Play4theCure program to professional baseball will generate limitless opportunities as well as give me a way to honor my grandfather and his fight.
My ultimate goal as a NFCR Youth Ambassador is to involve all Minor and Major League baseball teams in Play4theCure. This partnership will help to increase cancer research and hopefully lead to cures for all types of cancer. The implementation of Play4theCure in professional sports will also allow for increased awareness of newly discovered cancer prevention methods.
