In February, I will be running over 200 miles from Cap Haitian to Jacmel, Haiti, as a part of Work's 2018 Run Across Haiti! Growing up, I was never an athletic person. I got into running in 2011 and have been hooked ever since. For the last year and a half, I have been focusing on ultra-marathons. I love the challenge of running long distances, and I love even more the community of people that I get to be a part of. Since June of 2016, I have run and completed three 50ks, three 50 milers, two 100ks, and one 100 miler. Since I have spent the last several months satisfying my own running goals, I felt like it was a chance to give back. What better way than an ultra-marathon? Run Across Haiti raises funds to end poverty in Menelas through good, dignified jobs. I run so the children of Menelas can attend school, so their parents can work dignified jobs, and so their families can have access to medical care. I run to show that Haiti is a place of beauty, not a place to be feared or pitied. I humbly ask for your support of my running adventure and of Work. I have a personal fundraising goal of $6,000. Help us help our families in Menelas end poverty for themselves!
