CHIME FOR CHANGE, the global campaign founded by Gucci to raise funds and awareness for Education, Health and Justice for girls and women, and ATM Artists in conjunction with Alesso, are partnering to build a school in Alamabad, Pakistan through CHIME non-profit partner Developments in Literacy (DIL).
The money raised will help pay for the construction of 9 classrooms, a library, an office, 4 restrooms and a playground for 150 students – a majority of them girls in the Alamabad village.
Alamabad village lies in District Dir. It’s one of the most deprived regions of Pakistan, despite the natural beauty of its terraced mountains and stunning landscape. There are no public schools in the immediate area as it is so rural; however, DIL has been operating a school there for some time, using a community approach to encourage enrollment. Unfortunately due to resource constraints, it is not nearly big enough to accommodate all of the local children.
In Pakistan, more than 3 million primary-school-aged girls are out of school and less than 50% of women are literate.
By providing children – especially girls – with education, DIL offers hope in this region. Their dropout rate is 0.57%, compared to 45% nationally in Pakistan.
That is why CHIME FOR CHANGE, DIL and ATM Artists like Alesso need your help. With grassroots support from donors like you, we can build a larger school to accommodate more children and ensure they can continue their education past elementary school.
